Inspiration for Yakman Middle School comes from the Seven Magic Mountains, a sculpture piece by Ugo Rondinone. His focus was on the balance between the natural and the man-made. He also took inspiration from cairns, which are small rocks stacked on top of each other to signal pathways for travelers. Like the sculpture pieces, every student has a different life, personality, and background, but together they come together and create a fun piece of art. These forms, shapes, and colors will be used to create balance, scale, and proportion. The values of nature, guidance, and unique qualities, will echo in Yakman Middle School through spaces that allow flexibility and ownership.
